My god we are so fucking cute. We can hardly stand it.
Let me tell you about this past week.
On Tuesday, I went to my 18-month post-op appointment and was called a “super star.” Nice. Because I was in the area, I went to get my tires rotated at Discount Tire. Alas, two tires were needed, had to be ordered, and I would have to return the next day. Dave was off, however, so we met up for coffee at his local Starbucks. It was very nice to see him.
On Wednesday, I returned to Discount to have my tires put on. It took two hours. Afterward, Dave and I met for dinner (he lives fairly close to the tire store).
We didn’t see each other Thursday.
On Friday, he came over late that evening. I was on my bike trainer. After my workout, while I showered, Dave made us grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. After eating, he sat next to me on the couch while I graded and submitted my final grades. I love that I don’t have to feel totally “on” with him.
On Saturday, I attended Geek Girl Brunch with my ladies in the morning, then got my jog in at the YMCA on a treadmill. I came home and Dave was working out on my elliptical (very cool). We hung out until it was time to go to a dinner with my triathlon buddies. When we got home, we had our Christmas, exchanging our Christmas presents. He received a Cavs shirt, Cavs box subscription, Cavs pajama pants, and a trivia calendar (plus chocolate chip cookies we made the previous weekend). I received Crayola crayons (none of that knock-off shit!), the Golden Girls coloring book, and The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher. I love that he inscribed both books to me from him.
We both reflected on how, even though we haven’t been dating for a month yet (we had our first date on November 20), this has been one of the best months of our lives. Well, he said it and I agreed wholeheartedly.
On Sunday morning, we made sugar cookie dough. Then I had to go to commencement. Upon my return, I again found Dave on my elliptical (awesome!). He had done my dishes – unasked!!! I cleared my kitchen counters in preparation for cookie cutting and I made some royal icing. When he was done and showered, we rolled out the cookie dough, cut it, and baked the cookies. I made more royal icing (a range of colors, you see). Then we made a second batch of cookies. All of this was while the Steelers game was on. Finally, we decorated the cookies. Both of us ran out of creative energy by the end of decorating 36 odd cookies! It was still a lot of fun though. I definitely felt less pressure to be a perfectionist and the cookies were super technicolor.
We ended the evening by saying how we didn’t want to be apart for so long. I will be traveling soon and, as much as I’d like to strap him to my roof and take him with me, I can’t.
I feel so fortunate to have found someone who meshes with me so well. I still can’t believe it.
